Having read his books, it does not appear that there is enough useful info in them to actually put into practice. His course, however, may be more detailed, but it will cost you nearly $2500 to find out.
COACH QUALITY: We are not certain if Dr. Lowry even provides mentoring anymore. If you decide to try Lowry's offer, we suggest you ask point blank who does the mentoring, and if they are actual, successful real estate investors. Get it in writing.
If coaching is important to you, the only course worth considering is Bill Vaughn's course, "The Simple Man's Guide to Real Estate" which provides professional coaching at no cost, as it is offered by a non-profit so the price cannot be beat.
SUCCESS RATE: Unknown. But considering Mr Lowry filed bankruptcy in 1987, we have to question how successful anyone could be by following his advice.
BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU RATING: The BBB gave Al Lowry's "National Investors Association" a rating of "F" a couple of years ago. Now it appears the "National Investors Association" is defunct and is no longer listed. Dr. Lowry now works under the entity "Albert Lowry Seminars" according to his website and URL, but the BBB has no record of such a business. In fact, they have no record of Al Lowry, Dr. Al Lowry, Albert Lowry or Dr, Albert Lowry, either. We suspect that is because he has started a new business that has yet to be rated. Perhaps Mr. Lowry will enlighten us on that. We asked, and are still waiting to hear.
COMMENTS: We have asked Mr. Lowry to provide any information that would contradict anything here, and to add any information that may be pertinent. If and when we hear from him, we will update this page if necessary.
UPDATE: We heard from Mr. Lowry's "people". They complained about the info on this page, and not surprisingly want it removed. However, they have refused to provide any information that disputes anything on this page. Once again we asked them to provide any contrary info along with referenced evidence. Still waiting...
A BETTER, SOUND ALTERNATIVE:
Before risking hundreds, thousands or tens of thousands of dollars on Lowry's or any other course, do yourself a favor and check out the only real estate investing course that provides free coaching by professional investors and details all 24 methods of real estate investing. The most comprehensive, low cost course available, "The Simple Man's Guide to Real Estate" was developed by 50+ year veteran investor Bill Vaughn (Bill developed the "Reverse Mortgage" now used by HUD, and helped develop the very strategies now used by Al Lowry). Published by IntelliBiz on a non-profit basis, it is affordable to all, and includes free lifetime coaching by investors who volunteer their services to assure your success - with NO monthly fees or hidden costs. Real investors, not scripted telephone operators. It has an "A" rating at the Better Business Bureau and the highest documented success rate of any real estate course. All at a fraction of what other courses charge.
If you are truly interested in really learning how to make money in real estate and receive the benefit of free, unlimited coaching, all at a price anyone can afford, "The Simple Man's Guide to Real Estate"® is worth considering.
NOTE: Many of the infomercial gurus "farm out" their mentoring to disreputable companies such as Mentoring of America etc. If mentoring is important to you, you would be wise to ask the company EXACTLY who provides the mentoring. Ask if the mentors are actual, practicing investors and if the mentoring is provided in-house, or if it is provided by a third party.
Most programs are not detailed enough, with the logic being that the customer would then need to buy into their expensive mentoring, which is what they are really selling. But if the coaching is free, as it is with "The Simple Man's Guide to Real Estate", you can rest assured that the program, itself, is complete, finely detailed, and easy to understand. Again the logic is simple - the more complete the program, the less need you will have of a coach. And when coaches are free, it is important to keep the "need" to a minimum, so we provide the most detailed course possible.
Whichever course you may purchase, we do wish you the best. And if you have questions, feel free to ask. We are here to help.
